[1][2][3][4] The condition is often unilateral with a female predominance and tends to be asymptomatic, although nodules encroaching on the visual axis and causing visual complaints and pain have been reported. 5 The nodules may develop within areas of preceding corneal inflammation, such as phlyctenular keratitis, vernal keratoconjunctivitis, and past interstitial keratitis.…”

“…Similar peripheral superficial vascularization has been described in patients with SND. 3 Treatment in our case series varied from topical lubrication, punctual occlusion, topical steroid therapy, and oral doxycycline, all of which provided minimal to no symptomatic relief. Superficial keratectomy with intraoperative application of 0.02% MMC provided symptomatic relief without recurrence in three eyes of two patients.…”
