Roseomonas sediminicola sp. nov., isolated from fresh water

Abstract: A Gram-stain negative, strictly aerobic, non-motile, non-spore-forming, and rod-shaped bacterial strain designated FW-3(T) was isolated from fresh water and its taxonomic position was investigated by using a polyphasic approach. Strain FW-3(T) was found to grow at 10-37 °C and at pH 7.0 in the absence of NaCl on nutrient agar. On the basis of 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity, strain FW-3(T) was shown to belong to the family Acetobacteraceae and to be related to Roseomonas lacus TH-G33(T) (97.2 % sequence simi… Show more

“…In addition to being associated with human clinical samples, Roseomonas spp. were also isolated from various sources like soil (Kim and Ka, 2014), sediment (He et al, 2014), sludges (Wang et al, 2016), contaminated soil (Subhash and Lee, 2018), freshwater (Baik et al, 2012), and also human sources like blood (Rihs et al, 1993; Figure 1).…”

“…Basonym: Roseomonas sediminicola (He et al, 2019) The description is the same as that of Roseomonas sediminicola as given by He et al (2014). JQ349047 is the accession number for the 16S rRNA gene sequence.…”

“…The major fatty acids in strain ROY-5-3 T were summed feature 8 (C 18 : 1 ω 7 c/ C 18 : 1 ω 6 c , 48.0%), followed by summed feature 3 (C 16 : 1 ω 6 c/ C 16 : 1 ω7 c , 23.2%) and C 16 : 0 (10.9%), which were generally present in other members of the genus Roseomonas [3–18]. Characteristically, strain ROY-5-3 T contained more summed feature 3 and less summed feature 8 than other closely related taxa and strain ROY-5-3 T was distinct from R.…”

“…Roseomonas, a member of the family Acetobacteraceae within the order Rhodospirillales and class Alphaproteobacteria, was proposed by Rihs et al [1]. Roseomonas strains were initially isolated from human samples such as blood, wounds, sputum and exudates [1][2][3][4], but they were later isolated from other environmental samples such as air [5,6], soil [7][8][9][10], water [11,12], sediments [13,14], rhizosphere [15,16] and phyllosphere [17,18]. Recently, species of Roseomonas have also been isolated from aquatic sources, such as coral [19] and algae [20].…”

“…(Sánchez-Porro et al, 2009;Kim et al, 2013). Members of the genus Roseomonas are widely distributed in various environments, such as drinking water distribution systems (Gallego et al, 2006;He et al, 2014), freshwater lake sediment (Jiang et al, 2006), soil (Yoon et al, 2007;Kim & Ka, 2014. ) and air (Yoo et al, 2008;Kim et al, 2013).…”
