Role of Herbal Extract in Stem Cell Development

Abstract: Stem cell research has been developed and today we can witness some stem cell clinical trials are on going in Indonesia. To meet a successful stem cell treatment, several factors need to be considered, such as cell number. Cell number has been reported to be crucial, and therefore optimal cell number should be achieved. Meanwhile, in some circumstances, cell number is not enough, therefore, cell number should be enriched in an in vitro stem cell culture setting. In an in vitro stem cell culture, beside… Show more

“…Herbal extract has been explored for various purposes, including for inhibiting cancer cell and inducing stem cell. (27,28) Cardiotoxicity of doxorubicin toxicity could be proceeded by an increasing amount of iron-mediated reactive oxygen species (ROS). Specifically, iron accumulates in the mitochondria of cardiac cells, causing tissue destruction and degradation.…”

“…The use of plants as an alternative medicine for some diseases in Indonesia has been carried out for generations. (1,2) Herbal medicines are also widely used to increase the immunity of the body, which are commonly referred to as immunomodulators. The ability of herbal medicine as an immunomodulator can be determined based on its secondary metabolite content.…”

“…37 UC-MSCs are used more often than dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs), though dental pulp has been considered as an attractive source of MSCs due to its high cell content and relatively low invasive cell isolation procedure. 17,33,[38][39][40] DPSCs are similar to ASCs in their immunomodulatory properties. 33 There are 3 types of stem cell transplantation, i.e.…”
