Abstract: Scheme Iand subsequent reductive elimination could form 814 and regenerate the catalyst. In summary, conjugated diallenes undergo stereoselective [4+ 1] cycloaddition with CO in the presence of Fe(CO)5 or Fe2(CO)9 under preparatively useful conditions. Consistent with the first step being rate-limiting coordination of iron to the diallene, CO was found to be inhibitory. Facial selectivity of iron coordination may account for why meso diastereomers 2 and 3 yield only 6 and 7. Surprisingly, sterically demanding d… Show more

“…Manners and co-workers have developed ferrocene polymers with various bridging moieties in the main chains [29], and they found that silicon bridged ferrocene polymers have two redox peaks due to the strong metal-metal interaction [30]. It has been reported that the initial oxidation occurs at alternating iron sites and subsequent oxidation occurs at a higher potential due to the charge repulsion between the iron sites [31].…”

“…The resulting nanostructured materials have a wealth of potential applications and recent breakthroughs in this area are discussed. High-molecular-weight polyferrocenylsilane (PFS) macromolecules (4) were discovered in the early 1990s [30] and represent an interesting class of metal-containing polymers (Fig. 2).…”

“…Dimethylsila [1]ferrocenophane (FS) was prepared as described recently [16,44] and purified by repeated crystallization from hexane at À60 8C in the presence of trioctyl aluminum. Purification of styrene and the solvents was carried out as described elsewhere.…”

“…[16] sec-BuLi was prepared from sec-butyl chloride and lithium dispersion. PFDMS homopolymers having molar masses of 4.9 kg Á mol À1 (P n % 20; ''PFDMS-1'') and 60.7 kg Á mol À1 (P n % 250; ''PFDMS-2''), were prepared following published procedures, i.e., by anionic polymerization of dimethylsila [1]ferrocenophane (FS). [16] The polydispersity was PDI ¼ 1.05 and 1.03, respectively.…”
