Review of the Latest Research on Coal, Environment, and Clean Technologies

Abstract: Fossil fuels, coal in particular, are indispensable sources of energy necessary for today's technological and economical progress throughout the world. Their burning releases numerous environmental contaminants, like CO 2 , SO 2 , and a range of organic and inorganic compounds. Arguably, however, and despite the fact that these emissions have resulted in air pollution and regional acid rain problems, there is no evidence yet of their usage completely replaced by a low-CO 2 -producing energy source. Coal, due t… Show more

“…Hence, on the one hand, it is necessary to work for maximum implementation of the closed cycle of stock preparation for NPSs [16,17]; on the other hand, it is required to stabilize coal extraction and consumption [18 -20]. That is stipulated by the limited reserves of crude oil and natural gas, forming negative tendencies in the world market, and by the unsolved problems concerning absolute safety of nuclear power stations, and reliable disposal of neutralization of radioactive residues of nuclear fuel [21,22].…”

“…Coal is a non-renewable natural resource that is the most copious and economical fossil fuel resource in the world and it contains almost 90% of fossil fuel energy. Coal is a very affordable and reliable source of energy and it has assumed a basic role in the steadiness and development of the world's economy (Thakur, 2016;Medunić et al, 2018).…”
