We systematically analyzed the production of semi-inclusive doubly heavy baryons (Ξ cc , Ξ bc and Ξ bb ) for the process H 0 → Ξ QQ ′ +Q ′ +Q through four main Higgs decay channels within the framework of non-relativistic QCD. The contributions from the intermediate diquark states, cc, have been taken into consideration. The differential distributions and three main sources of the theoretical uncertainties have been discussed. At the High Luminosity Large Hadron Collider, there will be about 0.43×10 4 events of Ξ cc , 6.32×10 4 events of Ξ bc and 0.28×10 4 events of Ξ bb produced per year. There are fewer events produced at the Circular Electron Positron Collider and the International Linear Collider, about 0.26 × 10 2 events of Ξ cc , 3.83 × 10 2 events of Ξ bc and 0.17 × 10 2 events of Ξ bb in operation.

The most efficient axion production mechanism in a supernova (SN) core is the nucleon-nucleon bremsstrahlung. This process has been often modeled at the level of the vacuum one-pion exchange (OPE) approximation. Starting from this recipe, we revise the calculation including systematically different effects, namely a non-vanishing mass for the exchanged pion, the contribution from the two-pions exchange, effective in-medium nucleon masses and multiple nucleon scatterings. Moreover, we allow for an arbitrary degree of nucleon degeneracy. A self consistent treatment of the axion emission rate including all these effects is currently missing. The aim of this work is to provide such an analysis. We find that the axion emissivity is reduced by over an order of magnitude with respect to the basic OPE calculation, after all these effects are accounted for. The implications for the axion mass bound and the impact for the next generation experimental axion searches will be discussed.

The Gerda experiment searches for the neutrinoless double beta (0νββ) decay in 76 Ge in order to probe whether the neutrino is a Majorana particle and to shed light on the neutrino mass ordering. For investigating such a rare decay it is necessary to minimize the background of the experiment. In Phase II of the Gerda experiment the scintillation light of liquid argon (LAr) is used as an additional background veto. In order to estimate the efficiency of such a LAr veto it has to be known how far the scintillation light can travel within the LAr. A dedicated setup was built to measure the attenuation length of the scintillation light in the LAr in-situ within the cryostat of Gerda. The setup is composed of a steel tube with a photomultiplier tube (PMT) at one side and a moveable 90 Sr source at the other side to measure the light intensity at different distances between source and PMT.Furthermore, a sophisticated simulation was developed in order to determine the solid angle correction as well as the background for this measurement, both are needed for the analysis. Additionally, a set of simulation data was generated to confirm the analysis which is performed for the measured data afterwards and to find a combination of simulation parameters that matches the measured data. The analysis results in an absorption length of 15.79±0.70(stat) +1.42 −3.14 (syst) cm under the assumption of a scattering length of 70 cm at 128 nm. The simulation matching best was produced with an absorption length of 18 cm and a light yield of 2500 γ/MeV.
