Abstract: Treatment with MSE in EP actually caused healing of bone, and these effects are probably related to decreases in local oxidative damage and osteoclast activity. Given MSE's positive effects on osteodifferentiation as well, these findings suggest that MSE could be a useful therapeutic agent for the management of periodontitis.

“…Resveratrol mediated inhibition of CSI‐induced increases in bone loss seen in EP agree with previous studies done by our research group and others . Reduced periodontal damage related to use of resveratrol is high if not solely related to its effects on levels of IL‐17, IFN‐γ, IL‐4, and TH17/TH2 response .…”

“…The present study found that patients with periodontitis showed higher median CRP levels compared to healthy controls. A possible explanation of the high proportion of CRP levels in patients with periodontitis compared to healthy controls could be due to the strong impact exerted by periodontopathogenic bacteria on systemic inflammation mediated by a CRP pathway [34][35][36], mainly measured by CRP and interleukin 6 (IL-6). Similarly, several studies have shown that periodontal treatment could significantly determine a reduction in the levels of CRP [37][38][39][40].…”

“…Melinjo seeds are proven to have extensive pharmacology activities including antioxidant, antitumor, anti-obesity, anti-inflammation, antidiabetic, as well as downregulate osteoclast activity at sites with periodontitis (Barua et al 2015;Ikeda et al 2018;Saraswaty et al 2017a;Yoneshiro et al 2018). The potency of melinjo seeds to prevent skin hyperpigmentation has been demonstrated by Ohguchi et al (2003) and Yanagihara et al (2012) with a mechanism under inhibition of tyrosinase enzyme (Ohguchi et al 2003;Yanagihara et al 2012).…”
