“…Compound C1 was inlicensed as daptomycin by Cubist Pharmaceuticals for clinical development. However, due to rhabdomyolytic activities and a slight haemolytic potential [138,147,148], it has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 2003 as Cubicin ® salve for topical use only. Despite such disadvantageous properties, peptides in general, including those that are from nonmicrobial sources and ribosomally synthesized, are currently considered to be among the most promising compound classes for development of novel antibacterials [86,149,150].…”

Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.

“…In early phase II trials, the clinical efficacy of daptomycin was compared with that of conventional agents such as ␤-lactams, semisynthetic penicillins, and vancomycin for the treatment of skin infections and bacteremia. 41 In patients with skin and soft-tissue infections, 2 mg/kg daily resulted in clinical cure or improvement in 29 of 30 patients, compared with 37 of 39 patients treated with conventional therapy. Two multicenter phase III trials have now been completed; they involved 1,079 subjects with complicated skin and soft-tissue infections.…”

“…Two multicenter phase III trials have now been completed; they involved 1,079 subjects with complicated skin and soft-tissue infections. 31,41 In both studies, the patients were randomized for treatment with intravenous daptomycin (4 mg/kg, once daily) or standard treatment with a semisynthetic penicillin or vancomycin. Of all the clinically evaluable patients, 89% had clinical success with daptomycin, and 88% had successful treatment with standard treatment.…”
