Research of Kinetics of Coal Briquette Drying and Determination of the Optimum Mode Providing Fire and Explosion Safety

Currently, over 50% of Russia’s coal is mined in Kuzbass region. This is the reason for extreme pressure on natural resources and ecology in the region. At present, more than 100 coal mines and open-pit mines, as well as 54 concentrating plants and facilities are operating in Kuzbass. Wastewater and wastes of concentration plants, which used sludge collectors, contain significant amounts of coal slurry in the form of finely dispersed particles. Filtered cake as a potential raw material is of interest from an economic point of view. This technogenic raw material is a waste of mining production in fact. At the same time, the high humidity, and the complexity of loading and transportation, and the lack of compliance with consumer requirements does not allow full using of this raw material. This article presents some results of experimental research on coal sludge dewatering using geosynthetic materials. The received experimental data allow making the preliminary forecast about possibility of use of geotextile- like materials for coal slurry dewatering with its potential further use.

One of the essential issues of the benches’ development procedure is the choice of the method of seam development in the complex structure: joint development of rock and coal seams in one complex face or their separate excavation in blocks of 50-100 m in length. The decision of this question is connected with the mode of mining works, represented by the schedule of stripping and winning works. The choice of one or another method is connected with operative-dispatching control of haul trucks delivery. When rock and coal are mined together in a complex face, overburden haul trucks should be supplied for loading rock and coal haul trucks for coal in turns. It is organizationally difficult to supply haul trucks of different purposes during the shift. It is necessary to proceed from the shift (daily) planning of haul trucks supply for specific faces. In addition, it is necessary to take into account that rock and coal faces are often located on opposite sides of the quarry pit. This article studies the issue of organizing the operation of excavation and loading equipment during the mining of the coal-bearing zone of the open pit in order to reduce the loss of output of haul trucks.

The paper describes a method for determining the density and specific surface of the package of rock particles represented by discs with the size corresponding to the size of the rock fragments of real dump massifs (2D case). The packing method of the particles corresponds to the schemes of dumping used in open-pit mining - areal and peripheral ones. The influence of boundaries, in which the dump is located, on the physical characteristics of this massif - density and porosity - is revealed. It was revealed that the way of formation of the bulk of particles affects its density, especially at the boundaries of the massif. The massif of particles formed in accordance with the area technology of dumping has a denser composition and is less affected by the effect of its boundaries than the massif formed in accordance with the peripheral technology of dumping. The applied method of determining the physical characteristics of the bulk medium differs from the statistical methods (e.g., Monte Carlo) and is well-proven for static media, such as dumps and filtering massifs in open-pit mining.
