The objective of this work was to evaluate the phenology of the babassu (Attalea speciosa Mart ex Spreng.), aiming to subsidize information for non - timber management of the species in pasture area. For 48 months, the phenological patterns of babassu were studied, relating them to meteorological variables such as monthly average temperature, monthly total precipitation, relative humidity of the medium air and photoperiod. A total of 130 adult palm trees from natural regeneration were monitored in a pasture in the municipality of Ji-Paraná, RO, from January 2012 to December 2015. The data were analyzed by means of the activity indexes, the relation of the phenophases and meteorological variables by means of Pearson correlation. The population synchrony index was also evaluated. During the study, the population of Attalea speciosa showed flowering asynchronously in the population. In the process of formation and maturation of the fruits of the babassu, it was possible to observe that the time of total development of the fruits was in average 254 days. In young infructescence, the most influential climatic factors were temperature and photoperiod. In the green infructescence, climatic factors such as precipitation, relative humidity and photoperiod influenced negatively. The presence of mature infructescence occurred throughout the year, with the highest intensities in the month of November, and its activity related to the increase in temperature and duration of days. Phenological monitoring of babassu allowed to identify the intensity and predictability of reproductive events, thus enabling information to be provided to the plans for the sustainable exploitation of the species in pasture in the municipality of Ji-Paraná.

O trabalho teve por objetivo avaliar a fenologia reprodutiva do patauazeiro cultivado nas condições de Belém, PA. Foi realizado o monitoramento mensal em 163 plantas em plena fase reprodutiva do Banco Ativo de Germoplasma da Embrapa Amazônia Oriental, por 55 meses com base em três eventos de floração e quatro de frutificação e suas interações com seis variáveis meteorológicas. Calculou-se a taxa ocorrência e a sincronia de cada evento, além da correlação simples e da análise de componentes principais entre os eventos e as variáveis meteorológicas. Os eventos de floração e de frutificação ocorreram em todos os meses, com taxas variando de 0,6% (inflorescência seca) a 58% (emissão de brácteas). As fenofases mais frequentes foram a emissão de brácteas, inflorescências em floração e cachos com frutos imaturos. Cinco eventos foram assincrônicos e dois tiveram pouca sincronia, como a fenofases de emissão de brácteas e cacho com frutos imaturos. O pico da floração ocorreu de outubro a dezembro e o da frutificação de novembro a fevereiro. A maioria dos eventos foram poucos influenciados pelas variáveis climatológicas. Pode-se considerar que, nas condições do estudo, o patauazeiro apresenta eventos fenológicos reprodutivos em todos os meses, sendo assincrônicos e com picos de floração e frutificação sobrepostos.

Attalea nucifera is a threatened palm endemic to the Magdalena River basin in Colombia. In the past its seeds were consumed by the inhabitants of the town of Guaduas, Cundinamarca, although currently its use is less frequent. To assess the productive potential of this palm, we studied its phenology, biometric parameters, and fruit productivity in a forest relict in Guaduas. Field work was carried out between April 2016 and March 2017. The reproductive cycle of this species lasted approximately 12 and a half months from bud to fruit ripening. Although bud production occurred throughout the year, it increased during periods of greatest rainfall. Flowering peaks occurred towards the end of the rainy season and fruits ripened towards the period of low rainfall. We found a positive correlation between the number of leaves in the crown and the production of reproductive structures (rs = 0.447, p = 0.004). Palms of A. nucifera produced on average 1.3 ripe infructescences per year (± 0.62 SD) with a mean of 22.4 (± 7.34 SD) fruits each. Fruit weighed 182.9 g (± 45.97 SD) on average, 5 % (9.3 g) of which corresponded to the edible nut. The reproductive cycle of A. nucifera is closely related to rainfall patterns and fruit production is low compared to other Attalea species.
