Remifentanil: o regime de infusão faz diferença na prevenção das respostas circulatórias à intubação traqueal?

Abstract: Remifentanil administered two minutes before induction with propofol did not offer additional cardiovascular protection to tracheal intubation. This suggests that it is not necessary to start the infusion of remifentanil two minutes before anesthetic induction.

“…Bolus of this medication in anesthetic induction is controversial, since remifentanil was developed for continuous infusion, with fast onset and short duration of action 18 . Infusion with bolus doses and manually-controlled were used, but target-controlled infusion pumps can be of more advantage since they correct age-related pharmacokinetic parameters, with the increase in volume of distribution expected in children 19 . The predominantly suprathalamic actions of propofol did not delay recovery of the muscle tone in the clinical case in question in which the use of muscle relaxants should be minimized or abolished.…”
