Reliability and Maintenance Prioritization Analysis of Combined Cooling, Heating and Power Systems

Abstract: A combined cooling, heating, and power (CCHP) system is a complex and repairable system containing a large number of components and series of subsystems. When a failure occurs in one component, it might cause a failure of a subsystem or whole system. Traditional maintenance methods might lead to the waste of maintenance resources and a high cost of maintenance. The reliability and maintenance prioritization analyses can help managers optimize maintenance strategies and reduce the total cost. A reliability impo… Show more

“…The RIA of power system. A reliability index that scales to compare the appearance of a distribution system is assigned to determine the reliability of a service system or an electrical feeder (Jafar et al, 2019;Jiang et al, 2018). The method that uses indices to evaluate the power supply reliability is called as the Reliability Index Assessment (RIA) (Sucita et al, 2018).…”

“…These authors used a state space model and a continuous Markov model but did not analyze the behavior during an evaluation period or based on a given demand; therefore, the cogeneration system could not be evaluated from a technical and economic point of view. Jiang et al [17] used a combined cooling, heating and power (CCHP) system to evaluate the reliability of different components, highlighting their maintenance time and then assessing the maintenance cost. They also used the Markov model but did not evaluate the availability of the demand supply system and how it evolved in a specific period of time.…”

“…Few researchers have analyzed the availability and reliability of cogeneration systems. Two component-reliability-importance metrics, including FCI (failure cost importance) and PI (potential failure cost importance), were developed by Jiang et al [24] for assessment of the maintenance prioritization of constituents in a combined cooling, heating, and power cycle. A combined system consisting of a multi-stage flash (MSF) desalination unit, a gas turbine (GT), and an HRSG unit was studied by Hosseini et al [25] from thermodynamic and reliability viewpoints.…”
