“…58 62 In a Danish pediatric population, a decrease of IgE to egg white and to ovomucoid was associated with the acquisition of egg tolerance. 63 Conversely, in all cases with increased levels of IgE to ovomucoid, the rechallenge was positive. Therefore, the conversion of positive egg SPT or the decrease of specific IgE may provide useful information to identify children who acquire tolerance to egg and it may reduce the need of OFCs.…”

“…An Italian study showed that the negative conversion of a positive SPT over time was indicative of egg tolerance, compared with positive SPT persistence . In a Danish pediatric population, a decrease of IgE to egg white and to ovomucoid was associated with the acquisition of egg tolerance . Conversely, in all cases with increased levels of IgE to ovomucoid, the rechallenge was positive.…”

“…Gradman et al. have investigated whether consecutive measurements of IgE to egg white and egg components can predict development of tolerance in 82 children with challenge‐proven egg allergy. In a retrospective study, the results of 287 oral food challenges and corresponding measurements of specific IgE to egg white and egg components were analysed.…”

“…Therefore, a replacement for the OFC would be beneficial for both patients and clinicians, but due to their relatively low specificity and sensitivity, in vitro and in vivo tests have not been able to replace the OFC as the gold standard for diagnosing CMA . In the past decades, several studies have tried to optimize decision points to discriminate between sensitization without clinical relevance and IgE‐mediated food allergy; especially in peanut allergy, but also emerging for other foods, component‐resolved diagnostics (CRD) has been a very promising tool with the ability to discriminate allergic from tolerant patients . However, until now, studies investigating the use of CRD in the diagnosis of CMA have shown conflicting results …”
