As we all know, the dietary nutrition of athletes has a great influence on physical condition and exercise ability. A good diet pattern is the basis of a reasonable diet for athletes. It helps to improve the function and physical state of athletes. This article is aimed at studying the impact of nutritious food on athletes’ training and physical health. This article proposes the relevant technology of medical image recognition, which is used to study the relationship between nutritious food and the health of volleyball players and athletes, and proposes methods such as weighing method, meal review method, and measurement method, and the purpose is to exercise nutritional research and provide new ideas and methods. In addition, 200 female volleyball players were randomly selected for comparative analysis. The experimental results in this paper show that the energy intake and energy consumption of the female intervention group maintained a balance after the intervention, and there was a significant change in the negative balance state before the intervention. The energy consumption changed from − 158.2 ± 156.2 to − 157.2 ± 129.6 . The number of athletes whose weight is close to the ideal range has increased from 44.8% to 48.5%.

Association of Dental Caries and Anthropometric Measures among Primary School Children

Aim: This study aimed to investigate an association between dental caries status and anthropometric measures in primary school children. Methods and Materials: An analytical cross-sectional study (n = 376) was conducted among primary school children (age range = 6–9 years) registered in private schools. Non-clinical data was gathered from parents of participating children through a self-administered structured questionnaire as well as from the children through an interviewer-administered questionnaire. Clinical data included the examination of dental caries using dmft/DMFT index and anthropometric measures including calculated z-scores of height-for-age (HAZ), weight-for-age (WAZ), BMI-for-age (BAZ), and physical examination. Inferential statistics included Kruskal Wallis and linear regression for univariate and multivariate analysis respectively. Results: The proportion of dental caries in primary and secondary dentition was 67.6% and 8.2% respectively. A significant association was observed between dental caries status and HAZ, WAZ, and BAZ (p < 0.001). An inverse relation was found between low, medium, and high dental caries categories and anthropometric measures. Conclusions: In the primary dentition, dental caries were significantly and inversely related to weight-for-age, height-for-age, and BMI-for-age. Hence, it can be concluded that among the low-income population dental caries is associated with lower anthropometric outcomes in children and therefore caries management should be considered an approach impacting overall health and quality of life.

There is enough evidence to show the importance of the first 1000 days of life for child survival and development, and the next 8000 days for a child to reach adulthood. Yet discrimination, place of residence, socio-economic status, and inequalities within and between countries contribute to earlier mortality and significant morbidities for mothers and their children, particularly in settings with limited resources. Therefore, many children and adolescents and their families were left behind. JHGD has been raising public health issues related to inequalities and right to health. In this issue, articles generate debate around human dignity and health disparities. Several articles discuss a verity of health issues particularly in Amazon and Northeast region. School health was also discussed in this issue. Three studies were conducted in schools in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Research indicate that many children and adolescents are left behind. We are missing many opportunities to bridge the gap of inequality. Actions need to be taken now to make sure no one is left behind.
