Abstract:Plant morphogenesis fundamentally relies on unequal or ‘anisotropic’ growth to generate variation in form. The mechanisms that regulate the production of specific organ shapes are many and varied, and interact with one another, resulting in a complex regulatory network. This complexity of regulation may contribute to the robustness of plant morphogenesis, and also allows the integration of environmental inputs with endogenous signals. Here we examine a range of mechanisms that regulate plant development, focus… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
