Abstract:Background & Aim: Perineal pain can be caused by surgical (episiotomy) and spontaneous trauma and lacerations after vaginal birth. Episiotomies represent one form of trauma and are equivalent to a second-degree laceration that affects the mucosa and perineal muscles.
