Recommendation on Anemia Issue in Indonesia: Should Be More Meso and Macro Level Interest

Abstract

Backgrounds. The prevalence of iron deficiency anemia among female adolescents in Indonesia is alarming. This issue has been brought to the forefront in recent publications, emphasizing the urgent need to combat this disease. The findings of this study will serve as a guide for policymakers and strategic interventions aimed at addressing this pressing concern. Methods. Our team conducted an extensive bibliometric analysis on the prevalence of Anemia among teenage girls in Indonesia from 2010 to 2022. We used relevant keywords to extract published documents from Scopus and evaluated them. Additionally, we analyzed the data and identified trends using VOSviewer version 1.6.18. This tool enabled us to visually represent the publications based on the keywords, countries, and authors. Results. The issue of Anemia among teenage girls in Indonesia was initially addressed by an author in 2014. Although it gained more attention in 2015, there were no further articles published on the subject by 2017. Roche M.L, a prominent author who focused on this theme, collaborated with other experts such as Mardewi, Raut MK, Zakaria A, Ekayanti, and others. The most searched keywords were divided into two main clusters. Conclusion. Iron supplementation programs were initiated in 2014 due to regulations from the Indonesian Ministry of Health. However, it is concerning that current publications have primarily focused on micro-level perspectives, neglecting crucial meso and macro-level viewpoints. It is imperative that all levels of analysis are considered to ensure the success and effectiveness of these programs.
