Scouring Phenomenon directly occurs on materials due to the motion of water flow and water borne sediments that researchers in the world continue to investigate. Scouring are then continuously developed in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to be able to estimate scouring effects by analyzing interaction between fluid and solid. Water and solid interaction can be researched by realizing three dimensional numerical modeling (3D) using Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics Method which is modeling and visualizing fluid behavior with a Lagrangian approach in particle scale (micro scale), a more particle approach realistic than the grid approach. Using this method, the results of each particle can be reviewed either by their property values or visually so that the results are obtained more representatives. One of the factors affecting fluid-solid modeling is spacing ratio between solid particle and fluid particle. To obtain the correct physical results, it is required to consider the influence of spacing ratio and the value of Stiffness Coefficient (Ks) needed.

Abstract:We propose a new energy-based method for real-time dissolution simulation. A unified particle representation is used for both fluid solvent and solid solute. We derive a novel dissolution model from the collision theory in chemical reactions: physical laws govern the local excitation of solid particles based on the relative motion of the fluid and solid. When the local excitation energy exceeds a user specified threshold (activation energy), the particle will be dislodged from the solid. Unlike previous methods, our model ensures that the dissolution result is independent of solute sampling resolution. We also establish a mathematical relationship between the activation energy, the inter-facial surface area, and the total dissolution time -allowing for accurate artistic control over the global dissolution rate while maintaining the physical plausibility of the simulation. We demonstrate applications of our method using a number of practical examples, including antacid pills dissolving in water and hydraulic erosion of non-homogeneous terrains. Our method is straightforward to incorporate with existing particle-based fluid simulations.

Although hydraulic erosion modeling on a GIS terrain models has been addressed by a body of previous work, it still remains an open problem. In GIS, raster representation and triangular irregular networks (TIN) are the most commonly used surface models, because they are simple and offer implicit topological information. However, these data structures do not allow the simulation of erosion on concave terrain features, such as caves or overhangs. Other methods, more commonly used in the computational fluid dynamics, use volumetric data representation. They are able to model the 3D features, but they usually have high memory requirements and are computationally demanding. We propose a novel solution to the hydraulic erosion modeling problem that uses a triangular mesh data structure. Our framework allows for adaptive changes of the mesh resolution according to the local complexity of the terrain, which leads to lower memory requirements when compared to the volumetric approaches. Our data structure also supports the visualization of the concave 3D features, allowing the simulation and visualization of erosion on terrain elements such as tunnels or caves.
