Abstract: Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (EPEC) increases sodium/hydrogen exchanger 2 (NHE2)-mediated sodium uptake by intestinal epithelial cells in a type III secretion-dependent manner. However, the mechanism(s) underlying these changes are not known.
