Abstract: Background and Purpose Cognitive decline after cardiac surgery remains common and diminishes patients’ quality of life. Based on experimental and clinical evidence, this study assessed the potential of intravenously administered lidocaine to reduce postoperative cognitive dysfunction following cardiac surgery employing cardiopulmonary bypass.
