Artificial greenhouse gases could be used to warm Mars in order to make it habitable. Here we present new laboratory measurements of the thermal infrared absorption spectra of seven artificial greenhouse gases (CF 4 , C 2 F 6 , C 3 F 8 , SF 6 , CF 3 Cl, CF 3 Br, CF 2 Cl 2 ) at concentrations from 10 À7 up to unity.
