First, rabbit meat productionand regional structure are introduced, as the basis of trade. Then, the global rabbit meat trade is studied in detail, including trade growth, regional structural changes, comparative advantages and competitiveness of major countries. Finally, a gravity model is built to test major factors affecting th… Show more

“…Biological nature supplements to the diet of poultry, pigs, and cattle contain, in particular, plant metabolites of secondary origin (essential oils) and have a pronounced antimicrobial and antioxidant effect on the animal body, have a complex effect on the gastrointestinal tract, and also contribute to increasing the body's resistance to adverse environmental factors (Soltan, 2008;Samudovska & Demeterova, 2010;Lahlou et al, 2021). The result of this impact is an improvement in feed conversion, an increase in average daily weight gain, a reduction in fattening time, a reduction in animal deaths, and a significant economic effect (Bashchenko et al, 2020;Wu, 2022). The positive effect of additives of this type is conditioned by the synergistic effect of biologically active substances in the composition of essential oils from aromatic and medicinal plants, in particular, thyme, rosemary, and oregano (Stefanyshyn et al, 2017;Lahlou et al, 2021).…”

“…Many nations, particularly developing countries, benefit from the rabbit industry in terms of social development, rural economic growth and poverty reduction (Wu, 2022). This is a result of its positive features, such as job creation, easy management, uncomplicated start-up, flexible investment and the production of high-quality meat (Wu, 2022). Rabbit meat represents a considerable cultural and nutritional value and serves as a traditional diet (Leroy and Petracci, 2021).…”

“…To date, China is the world's largest producer, followed by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the European Union (FAO, 2022 ). Although rabbit farming has currently slowed in its growth, it still represents a sector of great economic importance in several geographical areas of the world ( FAO, 2022 ; Wu, 2022 ). Moreover, the rabbit is nowadays not only intended as a zootechnical species but also as a pet and experimental animal model, widely used in research studies to improve both the productive ( Menchetti et al., 2015b , 2019 ) and reproductive performance of this species ( Boiti et al., 1999 ; Brecchia et al., 2014 ; Menchetti et al., 2018a ), as well to investigate pathophysiology in humans ( Collodel et al., 2015 ; Menchetti et al., 2020a ) and other animals ( Menchetti et al., 2018b ; Zerani et al., 2005 ).…”
