Quantum image translation

Abstract: Image translation, which maps the position of each picture element into a new position, is a basic image transformation. Although it has been deeply researched and widely used in classical image processing, its quantum version is a vacancy. This paper studies the quantum image translation (QIT) for the first time to promote the development of quantum image processing. Two types of QIT: entire translation and cyclic translation are proposed by giving the quantum translation circuits. The translation in X -direc… Show more

“…Geometric transformation refers to changing the spatial position (coordinate) of pixels, such as image rotation, or changing image shape, like zoom in or out. e realized operations include rotation, the top/ bottom swapping or left/right swapping, the interchange of any two coordinates of the image [15][16][17], erosion and dilation operations [18], image magnification [19,21], and overall translation and cyclic translation of the image [22]. Take FRQI as an example.…”

“…For instance, FRQIbased fast geometric transformations including (two-point) swapping,°ip, (orthogonal) rotations 14 and restricted geometric transformations to constrain these operations to a speci¯ed area of an image 15,16 were initially proposed. Recently, NEQR-based quantum image translation to map the position of each picture element in an input image into a new position in an output image 17 and quantum image scaling to resize a quantum image 18 were discussed. While FRQI-based general form of color transformations were¯rst proposed by means of the single qubit gates such as X, Z, and H gates.…”
