Quantum effects in anti-de Sitter spacetime for the electromagnetic vacuum

Abstract: The two-point functions of the vector potential and of the field tensor for the electromagnetic field in background of anti-de Sitter (AdS) spacetime are evaluated. First we consider the twopoint functions in the boundary-free geometry and then generalize the results in the presence of a reflecting boundary parallel to the AdS horizon. By using the expressions for the two-point functions of the field tensor, we investigate the vacuum expectation values of the electric field squared and of the energy-momentum t… Show more

“…In the region z < z 1 the VEV of the energy-momentum tensor is given by (6.4) with j = 1 and with the replacements I ⇄ K. The VEV in the region z > z 2 is given by (6.4) with j = 2. The boundary-induced VEVs in the geometry of a single plate and for the boundary condition (2.4) have been previously investigated in [19]- [22]. For the same boundary condition, a part of the results concerning the VEV of the energy-momentum tensor in the region between the plates has been presented at the 10th Alexander Friedmann International Conference [29].…”

“…The electromagnetic Casimir energy and the forces acting on the branes in 5D Randall-Sundrum model have been investigated in [9,10] for perfectly conducting boundary condition. For the same boundary condition, the two-point functions and the vacuum expectation value of the energymomentum tensor in the geometry of a single plate on AdS bulk with general number of spatial dimensions were considered in [19]- [22]. The electromagnetic Casimir effect in de Sitter spacetime for planar boundaries has been discussed in [23,24].…”
