Abstract:Three strains [domestic (D), Laval (L) and Rupert (R)] of brook charr Salvelinus fontinalis and their reciprocal hybrids were submitted to transport stress to measure stress resistance. Primary (cortisol) and secondary (glucose, osmolality and haematocrit) stress responses were measured for each cross. Significant heritabilities were observed for both levels of stress response, with mean ± S.E. heritability (h(2)) = 0.60 ± 0.20 for plasma cortisol and 0.61 ± 0.20 for plasma glucose. There were strain differenc… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based startup that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
