Quality and inequality in the NHS

Abstract: The NHS was founded on the principle that care should be based on need, not the ability to pay, and the Long Term Plan aims to reduce health inequalities. This article explores how inequalities in the quality of care between the most and least deprived groups have changed over the last decade, and what implications this has on the endeavour to reduce unwarranted variation in care.
