Abstract:A joint meeting of the Japanese and French societies for Developmental Biology, entitled `Frontiers in Developmental Biology', was recently held in Giens, France. The organizers, Patrick Lemaire and Shinichi Aizawa, showcased some of the rapid progress in the field that has been made possible through the use of modern large-scale network analyses, and of an increasingly sophisticated array of tools and ideas from microscopy, mathematics and computer science.
