“…We agree with Osman (11) who first coined the term "spiny keratoderma," the disorder is a very localized keratoderma, and, clinically appears as spiny projections. Confusion with porokeratosis should not be made; although both demonstrate a thin column of parakeratotic cells with a thin granular layer beneath the column (1)(2)(3)(4)(5)(6)(7)(8)(9)(10)(11)(12)(13), spiny keratoderma histologically does not demonstrate vacuolization and/or dyskeratosis of the underlying spinous layer, forming the so-called cornoid lamella (7,8,(10)(11)(12).…”
