Pulmonary injury after cardiopulmonary bypass: Beneficial effects of low-frequency mechanical ventilation

Abstract: Low-frequency ventilation during cardiopulmonary bypass in a pig experimental model reduces tissue metabolic and histologic damage in the lungs and is associated with improved postoperative gas exchange.
