PtNi Bimetallic Nanoparticles on MgAlO Microflower Supports as Adsorbents for Desulfurization of Benzene

Abstract: Palladium adsorbent is used in the ultradeep desulfurization process of benzene to prepare refined benzene, which is an important commercial chemical raw material in the petrochemical industry. However, with the increasing cost of palladium adsorbent, the wide application of palladium adsorbent in the benzene refining process is greatly limited. Here, we rationally designed PtNi/MgAlO adsorbent using the 3D nanomicroflower structure of MgAlO as the support and PtNi bimetallic nanoparticles as the active compon… Show more

“…In the Ni 2p spectrum (Figure B), two peaks at 743.29 and 756.99 eV are correlated to Ni 2+ species, while the couple at 873.09 and 855.94 eV is indexed to Ni 0 species, coupled with obvious shakeup satellites at 880.29 and 861.49 eV. , The present Ni-based oxidized species are mainly due to the inevitable surface oxidation in air …”

“…33 In the Ni 2p spectrum (Figure 4B), two peaks at 743.29 and 756.99 eV are correlated to Ni 2+ species, while the couple at 873.09 and 855.94 eV is indexed to Ni 0 species, coupled with obvious shakeup satellites at 880.29 and 861.49 eV. 34,35 The present Ni-based oxidized species are mainly due to the inevitable surface oxidation in air. 34 The high-resolution C 1s spectrum (Figure 4C) is fitted to three peaks at 288.95, 285.85, and 284.77 eV, which are attributed to the O−CO, CN, and CC groups.…”

“…From an economic perspective, the price hikes in recent years have significantly compromised the large‐scale application of Pd/Al 2 O 3 adsorbents. [ 10 ] Therefore, the industry requires an easy adsorbent preparation technique for enhancing the reactivity and durability of the Pd/Al 2 O 3 adsorbent. This may result in outstanding economic benefits to the ultra‐deep adsorptive desulfurization of benzene.…”

“…In recent decades, due to increasingly stringent environmental regulations, the desulfurization of liquid fuel has become inevitable to achieve environmentally friendly fuels. Hence, the production of clean fuel oils with low sulfur content ( S ≤ 10 ppm) has been widely explored. Different technologies, including hydrodesulfurization (HDS), biological desulfurization, extractive desulfurization (EDS), oxidative desulfurization (ODS), and adsorptive desulfurization have been developed to remove the sulfur compounds from fuel oils. HDS is the conventional chemical process employed to remove various sulfur compounds during the deep desulfurization of liquid fuels.…”
