Abstract:Malignant fungating breast wounds, or malignant fungating wounds (MFWs) hereinafter, indicate a poor prognosis. For patients, malodour and copious exudate are the common distressing symptoms that require careful management. In addition to local wound management, patients require sensitive psychological support to improve their quality of life. Aim To review the current evidence on the psychological effects of MFWs.
