Psychological Capital Questionnaire - Short Version (PCQ-12): evidence of Validity of The Brazilian Version

Abstract: This study aimed to show evidence of validity for the Brazilian short version (12 items) of the Psychological Capital Questionnaire (PCQ-12). Three independent samples participated in the study, totaling 1771 subjects (64.3% women, 32.9% men and 2.9% undeclared), aged 18-79 years (M = 38.59, SD = 12.98). Confirmatory factor analyses showed acceptable adjustment indices for the four-factor structure (self-efficacy, hope, resilience and optimism) and for a second-order structure with a general factor of psycholo… Show more

“…Therefore, the results showed a configural, metric and scalar invariance of the PCQ-24 in the second-order model with 21 items, since the differences caused by the restrictions were practically irrelevant and were not statistically significant for the female and male groups. Similar results were found in the study by Kamei et al, (2018) testing the invariance of PCQ-12 in Brazil for samples independent of sex and age.…”

“…Recently, Kamei et al, (2018) presented robust evidence of validity of the PCQ-12 in the Brazilian context. The results showed fit indexes for a secondorder structure, with a general psychological capital factor explaining the four first-order factors (CFI = 0.95, TLI = 0.94, RSMR = 0.04, RMSEA = 0.06).…”

“…2.2.2.3 Intrapersonal factors . Psychological capital defined as an individual’s positive psychological resource was measured through a standardized scale-PCQ-12 [ 27 ] that assessed the four integrating dimensions, namely, self-efficacy (3 items), hope (4 items), optimism (2 items) and resilience (3 items) on a 6-point scale (1 = strongly disagree to 6 = strongly agree). A summated score was considered for the study.…”

“…To sum up, the findings of this study on the significance of gender and age-related variables for positive organizational practices, psychological capital, and life satisfaction might reflect the specifics of the Lithuanian population. They should not be generalized, as some studies revealed different results [118,[182][183][184][185].…”
