Pseudomorphic synthesis of mesoporous zeolite Y crystals

Abstract: A simple method for the conception of mesoporous zeolite Y crystals with a narrow intracrystalline mesopore size distribution is reported. It involves the pseudomorphic transformation of parent zeolite crystals by recrystallisation in the presence of surfactants, and leads to two interconnected pore systems in the zeolite crystals.

“…The equivalent specific surface area amounts to 883 and 837 m 2 g -1 for HY and HY-TA, respectively. These results compare well to those previously reported in the literature [42]. The HY-MIm and HY-MPy materials presents similar surface area (805 m 2 g -1 ) but with different capillary condensation regimes.…”

“…Although it is recently developed to make uniform size of mesopores by desilication in the presence of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTABr) surfactant [26,32], the mesopores generated via post-demetallation are very uncontrollable and undesirably formed. However, the post-demetallation route Fig.…”

“…Based on this principle, Groen et al prepared MFI zeolites possessing uniform mesoporosity, using submicron zeolite crystals instead of large bulk zeolite crystals [ 49 ]. Later, Chal et al added ammonium surfactants such as cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) in the desilication of the ZSM-5 [ 52 ]. The addition of CTAB was very effective in generating mesopores with a uniform diameter.…”
