“…The platform for this study is built with the TMS320F28379D microcontroller from Texas Instruments [54] and the PLECS RT Box1 (Plexim) HIL boards with several analogues and digital input/outputs [55] (see Figure 11). The file with the C-code was created and uploaded into both targets [46], and the voltages and currents measurements are recorded in the host PC in order to monitor them as described in Figure 11.…”

“…In HIL simulation, instead of a real plant a mathematical model representing the plant loaded in the real-time simulator to act like an actual plant. Through HIL simulations, the response of a controller in real time operation can be validated [19]. The following are the advantages with the HIL simulation: (a) prototype controller software can be developed with minor assumptions about the plant parameters; (b) once the control parameters are calculated with the HIL simulation, it is easy to tune the parameters of the actual system; (c) it saves design cost and time (d) system protections in real time can be analyzed by simulating faults.…”

“…One example of product prototyping using HIL is the electric vehicle (EV) simulation presented in [46]. The elements of HIL simulation are: a fast real-time simulator connected with an Electronic Control Unit (prototype) via low-power logic and analog signals.…”
