Proteome dynamics during contractile and metabolic differentiation of bovine foetal muscle

Abstract: Contractile and metabolic properties of bovine muscles play an important role in meat sensorial quality, particularly tenderness. Earlier studies based on Myosin heavy chain isoforms analyses and measurements of glycolytic and oxidative enzyme activities have demonstrated that the third trimester of foetal life in bovine is characterized by contractile and metabolic differentiation. In order to complete this data and to obtain a precise view of this phase and its regulation, we performed a proteomic analysis o… Show more

“…Charolais foetuses were generated by artificial insemination of Charolais cows with the semens of two Charolais bulls as reported earlier (Chaze et al, 2009). They were collected from cows slaughtered at the Experimental INRA slaughterhouse at pregnancy days 60 (n 5 4), 110 (n 5 4), 180 (n 5 4), 210 (n 5 4) and 260 (n 5 4).…”

“…1). The distribution of protein spots was broadly similar to patterns found in skeletal muscle from other vertebrates [38,39]. Using image software, protein spots were quantified on every gel at every stage.…”
