Properties and Application of Alumina Reinforced Aluminum Composite

Abstract: Improving high-temperature strength of aluminum piston material is a core technology for diesel engines to high speed and high intensity. To figure out the influence of alumina reinforced aluminum composites to the thermal load of high intensity piston, this paper study the properties of the alumina fiber reinforced aluminum composite and its protection for piston. The research shows that, compared with the cast aluminum, the high tensile strength and fatigue limit of the composite were increased by about 25% … Show more

“…however, despite its remarkable characteristics, its low fracture toughness value limits many other potential applications since slight imperfections in its structure cause cracks to overgrow, provoking it to fracture easily. hence, different researchers have sought to improve the fracture toughness of alumina through the addition of reinforcing materials in its matrix [2][3][4][5][6][7][8]. it has been established that the reinforcement mechanism is due to the deflection of cracks when they move forward and collide with a metallic particle [9][10].…”

“…Thermobaric explosives (TBXs) as typical non‐ideal explosives have aroused great interest over the years since they are highly destructive in enclosed spaces such as underground constructions, tunnels, cabin, and field fortifications [1–4]. Compared with conventional high explosive, the thermobaric effects refer to high temperature and pressure, instead of armor penetrating or fragmentation damage effects [5–7].…”
