Promoting femtocell cooperation through incentive for improving data rate of indoor users in underlay heterogeneous network

Abstract: This study proposes an incentive-based femtocell cooperation scheme for indoor macrocell users (MUs) in an underlay two-tier heterogeneous network which helps the indoor MUs to achieve higher data rate through time sharing access from the femtocell. Due to underlay spectrum sharing nature of the femtocell, the network suffers from severe cross-tier interference. To manage this cross-tier interference, a price-based power control scheme is also proposed for the femtocell access point (FAP) whereby the macrocell… Show more

“…For numerical simulation, we consider a test scenario exactly similar to that of [2] for the purpose of comparison between the two schemes. All the simulation parameters are also taken from [2]. We plot the optimal values of τ, achievable rates of indoor MU and also revenues earned by the MBS for different distances of the FAP from MBS while keeping the mutual distances of the FU, indoor MU and interfering MU fixed for the proposed scheme and incentive‐based scheme.…”

“…Usually, microcell networks, distributed in the hotspot area of macrocell networks, have the radius range from 30 to 300 m, so that cellular networks with different kinds of cell sizes are overlapped with each other [4]. Base stations (BSs) with different transmission power in cellular networks are adjacent to each other, so that the whole communication network presents a multi‐layer and heterogeneous network (HetNet) structure.…”
