Projection of Biodiesel Production in Indonesia to Achieve National Mandatory Blending in 2025 Using System Dynamics Modeling

Abstract: Biodiesel has been produced since 2006 in Indonesia and regulation of biodiesel blending has been set, but the actual blending rate was never reached the target. The research aims to increase biodiesel production to achieve mandatory target and reduce diesel oil import. It will project biodiesel production achieving demand in Indonesia until 2025 and proposes some strategies to increase blended biodiesel production by constructing system dynamics modeling. The research shows, there are 3 scenarios to increase … Show more

“…Sani et al (2018) predicted Indonesia's energy mix model production from various sources, and Kuo et al (2019) analyzed the acceptability of price differences between biofuel and fuel oil in Taiwan. Mayasari et al (2019) forecasted biodiesel production in Indonesia, Shao and Jin (2020) developed a model of Lithium supply chain resilience in China under the impact of supply interruptions and new energy vehicles and Becerra-Fernandez et al (2020) modeled natural gas supply chains for sustainable growth. Sheel et al (2020) explored the impact of marketing and supply chain orientation on petroleum supply chain agility in India, Weidner et al (2021) simulated climate control strategies to minimize energy consumption, and Chen et al (2023) studied the resilience of the energy sector of China under the shortage of imported oil in the long run.…”

“…The increase and decrease of stock can be controlled by in or out flows to and from the stock. Convertor contains information of variables, mathematic relationship and impact; however, connectors are used to formulate a relationship between convertors flow and stock (Mirchi et al, 2012;Rehan et al, 2011;Mayasari et al, 2019). Figure 1a shows the symbol of basic model building blocks.…”

“…In several developed countries, an effort has been developed to find alternative energy to replace petrodiesel which is more environmentally friendly and originates from renewable natural resources. (Mayasari et al, 2019). The fuel in question is known as biodiesel.…”
