Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.

“…We believe that the MH found in our patient was a complication to the retinoschisis seen in the outer nuclear layer and inner nuclear layer which was more extensive in the same eye rather than progressive retinal atrophy. Progressive retinal atrophy was proposed as a probable cause for the development of macular hole in patients with best vitelliform macular dystrophy; 8 however, being a 3-year-old patient, progressive retinal atrophy could not be the cause of the hole formation in young age. Absence of subretinal vitelliform material in the right eye is thought to be due to its egress through the hole to the vitreous cavity which appeared as hyperreflective materials on the surface of the retina by OCT.…”
