“…While our bibliometric analysis indicates that the body of knowledge on the performance management of radical innovation networks is dispersed and fragmented, we employed content analysis to propose (2015); Tolonen, Shahmarichatghieh, Harkonen, and Haapasalo (2015); Zehir and Özşahin (2008) Radical innovation 2 Agostini, Nosella, and Fillippini (2016); Oke et al (2007) (1) and (2) In developing our conceptual framework (for more details, see Section 3.2), we adopted an approach similar to that employed by Eggers and Kaplan (2013). “…Despite the intensification of studies on GPD, recent research suggests that little attention has been given to integrating environmental sustainability in product portfolio decision‐making (Brones et al , ; Brones and Carvalho, ). In this vein, the work of Tolonen et al () notes that analysis tools such as lifecycle are still rarely used when referring to the product portfolio issue. In this regard, some research points to the importance of environmental analysis in guiding a firm's project portfolio (Brones et al , ; Carvalho and Rabechini, ; Marcelino‐Sádaba et al , ; Sánchez, ).…”

“…Empirical and theoretical research also indicate that a rational and more formal approach to portfolio management tends to improve the NPD performance (e.g. Ernst, ; Hart et al , ; Kahn et al , ; Jugend and Silva, ; Tolonen et al , ). Furthermore, Kahn et al () noted that the application of formal methods of management associated with PPM increases the maturity of NPD management.…”
