Abstract: Probiotics have been emerging as a safe and viable alternative to antibiotics for increasing performance in livestock. Literature was collated via retrieved information from online databases, viz, PubMed, MEDLINE, ScienceDirect, Scopus, Web of Science and Google Scholar. Besides improved immunomodulation and nutrient digestibility, in-feed probiotics have shown drastic reductions in gastrointestinal tract-invading pathogens. However, every novel probiotic strain cannot be assumed to share historical safety wit… Show more

“…The spread of MDR-PSA is increasing both within communities and hospital environments leading to severe infection cases and eventual therapeutic impasse [ 5 ]. Infections due to multidrug resistant pathogens impose overwhelming burden on the public health through increased hospital stay, cost of treatment, direct economic loss and death of patients from previously treatable disease conditions [ 6 9 ].…”

“…Improvement in feed efficiency and growth performance of goats fed 1.0% FSJ-DM is thought to be induced by (i) the growth promoting effect of probiotic, including maintenance of beneficial microbial population [26]; (ii) stimulation of digestive secretions due to plant extracts [27] and (iii) improvement in health promoting properties of plants and reduction of anti-nutritional factors due…”

“…Improvement in feed efficiency and growth performance of goats fed 1.0% FSJ-DM is thought to be induced by (i) the growth promoting effect of probiotic, including maintenance of beneficial microbial population [26]; (ii) stimulation of digestive secretions due to plant extracts [27] and (iii) improvement in health promoting properties of plants and reduction of anti-nutritional factors due to microbial fermentation [20]. These results are in line with the experiment by Kim et al [21], who reported that fermented feed improves the nutrient utilization in ruminal fermentation in Korean native cattle.…”

“…Probiotics have a great chance of replacing antibiotics in animal husbandry. However, it is necessary to strictly adhere to the established regulations for their application (Alayande et al, 2020;Sabo et al, 2020). Probiotics have gained widespread attention in recent decades.…”
