Abstract: Probation work in Ireland is, for the most part, confined to the capital city of Dublin, which is the only part of the State to possess official probation officers. This situation, though not ideal, is not, perhaps, as strange as it would seem, for Ireland is essentially an agricultural country, and delinquency, here, as elsewhere, is an urban growth, and is comparatively rare in our rural district.
