Primer registro de Asio stygius (Aves: Strigidae) y análisis de dieta en el Jardín Botánico de la Fundación Miguel Lillo, Tucumán, Argentina

Abstract

ä Resumen-Asio stygius (Lechuzón negruzco) es un búho raro y difícil de observar, habita selvas y bosques en sabanas. En el año 2016 se observó por primera vez un ejemplar en el Jardín Botánico de la Fundación Miguel Lillo (JBFML); por lo que se realizó el seguimiento del mismo durante un mes, que fue el periodo que permaneció en el sitio. El estudio consistió en analizar la dieta del Lechuzón negruzco durante su estadía en el JBFML. Para ello se observaron el sitio de descanso y sus perchas, y se colectaron y analizaron 20 egagrópilas. Las aves, en particular las rapaces, son buenas bioindicadoras de la calidad del ambiente, ya que al encontrarse en el tope de la cadena trófica son sensibles a los cambios ambientales y a la actividad humana, de ahí la importancia de la presencia de A. stygius en el JBFML. Palabras clave: Alimentación de aves, egagrópilas, ecología urbana. ä Abstract-Asio stygius (Stygian Owl) is a rare owl and difficult to observe, inhabits jungles and forests of savannas. In the year 2016 a specimen was observed for the first time in the Botanical Garden of the Miguel Lillo Foundation (JBFML, for its abbreviation in Spanish) so it was followed up for a month that was the period in which it remained on the site. The study consisted of analyzing the diet of Blackish Lechuzón during its stay in the JBFML. For that, the resting place and its perches were observed, and 20 pellets were collected and analyzed. Birds, particularly raptors, are good bioindicators of environmental quality, since being at the top of the trophic chain are sensitive to environmental changes and human activity, hence the importance of the presence of A. stygius in the JBFML.
