“…In our study, only 4% of 779 Salmonella isolates were susceptible to the antimicrobial agents tested; 96% of the isolates were resistant to at least 1 antimicrobial agent, 57% were resistant to at least 5 agents, and 28% were resistant to at least 10 agents. High percentages of antimicrobial-resistant Salmonella isolates from poultry and poultry products also have been reported by other investigators (5,8,19,20,27,34). Of the five most common serotypes identified in our study, the highest percentage of Salmonella Indiana isolates were multidrug resistant, whereas Salmonella Enteritidis was less resistant to antimicrobial agents, in agreement with previous investigations of Salmonella isolates recovered from retail meats and food animals (27,37).…”

“…These results were similar to those of other investigators. [30][31][32] Our study indicated that Salmonella isolates were most frequently resistant to tetracycline (77.12%), sulfisoxazole (66.62%), and nalidixic acid (64.74%), and this was consistent with the findings of other studies. 33,34 This study presented that 92.92% of the class I integron-positive isolates were resistant to at least two antibiotics, and this exhibited a good evidence for the relationship between the presence of class I integron and the emerging of MDR in gram-negative bacteria.…”

“…In the present study, the mean concentration of all samples approached 0.524 MPN/g, and ranged from 0.013 to 14.50 MPN/g. In a Cambodian study, a very high level of contamination was found at 3 to 4 logCFU/g for positive samples (Lay, Vuthy, Song, Phol, & Sarthou, 2011).…”
