Abstract: INTRODUCTION: Sarcoidosis is an idiopathic, multiorgan, inflammatory disease characterized by the presence of noncaseating granulomas. Although mycobacterial infection has long been a candidate as a causative agent in sarcoidosis, only recently has strong evidence supported a causal connection.
