Abstract:We present a comparison for the effect of condensation on the morphology and magnetic properties of oleic acid modified BaFe12O19 nanoparticles. Two different samples of BaFe12O19 nanoparticles were synthesized by dehydration (Z1) and rotary evaporation (Z2) method, respectively. Oleic acid was used as the surface modification agent to observe the morphological and magnetic changes. The nanoparticles were analyzed by XRD, FTIR, TGA, SEM, and VSM techniques for structural and physicochemical characteristics. Crystallographic analysis reveals the phase as hexaferrite and the average crystallite size of Z1 and Z2 is 21±3 nm and 17±2 nm, respectively. Rotary evaporator accelerates the condensation process in viscous gel (Z2). Due to the use of rotary evaporator, the coating with oleic acid for Z2 product has been accomplished very well, as compared with Z1. As a result, saturation magnetization of Z2 sample is much lower than that of Z1 sample.

REVISIÓN Obtaining processes of M-type hexaferritesAbstract M-type barium-or strontium-hexaferrites strontium are the permanent magnets with main industrial use. In this paper, the main synthesis methods are reviewed, special attention being paid to the ceramic method which is the main industrial process. Other obtaining proceedings are also discussed (vitreous-ceramic, coprecipitation, hydrothermal synthesis of organometallic precurssors). Finally, the most important industrial applications are discussed.

Remarkable magnetic enhancement of type-M hexaferrite of barium in polystyrene polymer

We demonstrate that the promising effect of inclusion of single magnetic-domain type-M hexaferrite of barium (BaM) particles in polystyrene (PS) polymer (BaM/PS weight ratio = 2/1). The results show that the coercivity of BaM particles remarkably increases from 714 to 3772 Oe and remanence increases from 2.07 to 5.41 emu.g−1 when they embedded into PS. Moreover, magnetic coercivity and squareness of the BaM-PS are significantly larger, and is comparable with corresponding values of other BaM-polymer composites. Therefore, BaM-PS composite enforce itself as the modern potential materials with tendency of replacing existing composite materials in several applications.
