“…As previously reported [40], the peak at 284.5 eV could be assigned to collagen backbone and carbon tape possibly caused by the environment, However, an important focus should be paid close attention to was that the relative intensity of peak assigned to C-O bonds was significantly enhanced in comparison with that of C=O bonds, which primarily benefited from the occurrence of aldol condensation for producing more -C-O-Ti-bonds on the Fe 3+ /TiO 2 surface. Similarly, the high-resolution spectrum of Fe2p depicted in Fig.8(e) provided the two extremely weak signals around 712 eV and 721.5 eV, corresponding to Fe2p 3/2 and Fe2p 1/2 respectively, which indicated that Fe 3+ ions could be substituted for Ti 4+ ions and incorporated into the TiO 2 lattice, because of their similar radius values.…”

“…Yang et al [7] prepare C-PVA/TiO 2 composites by calcinating the mixture of TiO 2 sol and C-PVA solution for photocatalytic degradation of rhodamine B. Meanwhile, H-PVA/ TiO 2 composite was synthesized by Song et al [8] under sol-gel and thermal treatment process with tetrabutyl titanate as titanium source.…”

“…During the thermal treatment both turned to brown. Such a color change was not mentioned by either Lei et al (2012) or Ren et al (2015) [6,21] while Song et al (2014) observed this phenomenon but without any discussion of its reasons [14].…”

“…In our case, the thermal treatment changed the color of the PVA support to dark brown. This was not mentioned in the referred study [6], however, Song et al (2014) [14] reported about the browning during the thermal treatment, and the effect was explained by the rearrangement of the polymer structure. The color gradually faded during the irradiation, while the total organic carbon content (TOC) in the solution significantly increased.…”
