Abstract:Two new series of hydrogen bonding liquid crystal dimers were prepared and their selfassemble behavior and structure-property relationships were studied through intermolecular hydrogen bond formation. The first series of symmetric liquid crystal dimers have two terminal alkoxy chains and the second have four terminal alkoxy chains. Their structures were elucidated using spectroscopic techniques, elemental analysis, and powdered X-ray diffraction. The mesophases and their corresponding transition temperatures w… Show more
“…Two series of supramolecular hydrogen bonded liquid crystal dimers were prepared by Al-Lami; 22 the mesogenic properties of the dimers were studied, as well as their structureproperty relationships. The synthetic routes for the preparation of the hydrogen bonded complexes are shown in Scheme 6.…”

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
