BackgroundThe relevance of the topic lies in its examination of the state of development of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in Azerbaijan. Corporate social responsibility refers to the ethical and responsible behavior of companies towards society and the environment.AimsThe purpose of this study is to analyze the state of development of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in Azerbaijan and to propose methodologies for the design of a unified policy for the implementation and development of the CSR concept.Material & MethodsIn this work, the study was conducted in the realities of Azerbaijan. Analysis can be considered the main method used in the study; other methods include induction, benchmarking, and forecasting.ResultsThe researchers analyzed the state of development of corporate social responsibility in Azerbaijan.DiscussionThe results of the analysis demonstrate that there are specific initiatives from the state, enterprises, and society in the country at the moment, but they are not yet enough to achieve significant results in this field of research.ConclusionThe research proposed some methodologies for the design of a unified policy for the implementation and development of the corporate social responsibility concept.

The Effectiveness of Zakat Fund Distribution in Alleviating Poverty (A Case of Zakat Institutions in Indonesia)

This research aims to determine the effectiveness of the zakat fund distribution of Indonesia's zakat institutions in alleviating poverty. This study used secondary data from the zakat institution's annual reports and website information for 2022. The object of this research is only national zakat institutions that have issued annual reports and functional websites used as research objects. Among the 91 zakat institutions, only 14 national zakat institutions meet the requirements as research samples. The research used content analysis as the analysis method. The results of this study show that all zakat institutions have implemented programs to alleviate poverty effectively. This institution prioritizes consumption, social, health, and education programs. Only a few zakat institutions implement housing programs and house renovations which are also part of the basic needs because of the limited funds. Zakat institutions have provided additional expertise through skills and leadership training. Even zakat institutions have built a local economy. No zakat institution has developed a mustahiq network, creating an enterprise zone and regional investment. Due to data limitations, this research is only able to explain 14 national zakat institutions' management distribution which had published annual reports and other information on their websites. The government, muzaki, and, academics could use this research finding to support zakat institutions so that these institutions can increase their contribution to alleviating poverty. The government should pay attention to zakat institutions by building a regulatory framework that triggers the development of these institutions.

The problem of drug use and crime worries many people as it threatens the well-being, harmony and security of the country and society. Over the years, this problem has been often associated with Malays compared to other ethnics. This study aims to identify the profiles and experiences of drug use and crime among Malay offenders. The study was conducted using a quantitative cross-sectional survey. A total of 301 Malay offenders who were charged for drug-related offences and serving their sentences in the Malaysian Prison Department were selected to participate in the study. The study has found that the majority of offenders involved in drug use and crime offences are young people aged 21-39 years old, unmarried, attained at least lower and/or upper secondary education SRP/SPM, employed prior to custody, and had income below than RM3,850 per month (B40). Based on their experiences of drug use, most offenders reported that they obtain drugs from the dealers and the average age of first drug use is between 30 to 35 years old. Methamphetamine is a popular drug used by majority of Malay offenders, and it is due to incredible enjoyment and peer pressure. The study also reported offenders spent between RM50 and RM100 to buy drugs in a day. Based on the experiences of crime, most of offenders reported to commit crimes at least twice a week and preferred to commit crime alone than in groups. The type of crime offences reported by most of Malay offenders are drug dealing, theft and burglary instead of drug use. Findings of this study have implications for the implementation of effective intervention and management offenders in terms of providing counseling services, skills, education, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation among offenders.
