Potentiation of Otoprotective Effect of Hydrocortisone Immobilized on Povidone Nanoparticles under Conditions of Intravenous Injection

Abstract: The otoprotective effect of immobilized hydrocortisone was studied on the model of acute acoustic injury to the auditory analyzer in male Wistar rats. The effects of true solution and suspension where polyvinylpyrrolidone particles (100-500 nm) served as dispersed phase (hydrocortisone concentration 5 mg/kg). The agents were administered immediately after continuous acoustic stimulation: 5 kHz tone, 110 dB for 2 h. The hearing status was evaluated by the amplitude of otoacoustic emission at the distortion prod… Show more

“…Panevin Zhuravskii ( 49 ) used hydrocortisone suspension, in which particles from synthetic organic polymer, polyvinylpyrrolidone (povidone), served as the dispersed transporting system. DPOAE measurements revealed the prepared NPs' ability to protect the cochlea against the acute pathology induced by a single acoustic stimulation of 5 kHz frequency and 110–112 dB intensity in Wister rats.…”

“…In this case, hydrocortisone entrapped povidone (polyvinylpyrrolidone) NPs were injected intravenously subsequent acoustic stimulation at 110 dB noise for 2 hr at 5 kHz frequency and the amplitude of otoacoustic emission was recorded on 1 and 24 hr and 7 days after the noise trauma at 4-6.4 kHz frequency resulted in relatively better otoprotective effect of single injection hydrocortisone-povidone NPs within 1 day than those of free drug. 163 120 disorder in both adult and young population. Therefore, conservation of leftover hair cells and restoration of damaged hair cell from ototoxicity and noise trauma are one of the crucial tasks for pharmacotherapy.…”
